Community leaders and others residing in small towns around the state are invited to a three-day community development workshop next month in Louisville.  The interactive program titled “Your Town Mississippi” is being organized by Mississippi State’s Community Action Team.

Guest speaker was Mississippi Development Authority Director Gray Swoope, who told area business leaders and community advocates to begin looking locally for economic prosperity.

East Central Planning and Development District has revolving loan funds that are available to be loaned out to businesses and industries within East Central Mississippi.

Tom Troxler, executive director of Rankin First Economic Development Authority, said many retailers won’t look at an area that lacks white-tablecloth restaurants.

The Franklin Furniture Institute and the College of Business at Mississippi State University invite you attend the “STRATEGY 2010:  Competing in a Changing World” conference on May 18, 2010 in Tupelo.  Topics include “Factors Affecting the Costs of Importing”, “Survivor 2010:  Recovery in a Recession-Ridden Reality”, “The Status of Proposed Government Regulations”, and “Labor Force Issues You Should Prepare for Now”. 

The plan will evaluate the economic development potential of Harrison and Stone counties through an economic study to include private and public business investment in the region.

The Association for Manufacturing Technology – “A State-by-State Resource Guide for Obtaining Federal or State Funding”

Advance Mississippi has issued the report “Making the Grade – An Assessment of Renewable Energy Sources for Mississippi.”
