Controversial legislation to consider genetically-enhanced deer.  Bill author Senator Tommy Gollott, R-Biloxi says this practice would bring millions to the state annually.  “In Mississippi we need economic development and that’s what this will do,” Gollott said.

Does you city or town have a slogan or moniker? If not, what would it be if you had to create one?  … Slogans tend to come from either local government leaders or the local chamber of commerce or organization in charge of promotion and tourism.

The MEDC 2011 Winter Conference is February 2 – 4 in Jackson.  Almost 300 have registered to attend!

The MEDC Breakfast Honoring the Legislature will be held February 2, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson.  Members are asked to please contact their legislators and invite them to attend. Marshall Ramsey, Clarion-Ledger political cartoonist is the featured speaker. We will be delivering an invitation to each legislator at the Capitol.

The conference continues at the Hilton on Wednesday afternoon with the Federal Round Tables from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Federal agencies with representatives attending are:
USDA Rural Development, U. S. Economic Development Authority, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Internal Revenue Service, Mississippi Small Business Development Center, U. S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.  Mindy Maxwell with Senator Cochran’s office will be in attendance.

The conference continues Thursday, February 3 through Friday, February 4 at the Hilton.
